Nanobubbles and processes

How to size a nanobubble generator: selection inputs and limits

Circuit flow, gas, pressure, water and process objective for choosing GENESIS without confusing device flow with total plant flow.

Set the function and connection point

DAF precontact differs from a biological-reactor sidestream or ozone contact tank. State the objective: chemical dose, aeration, gas contact or cleaning. Draw take-off, return, bypass, mixing and available space.

The stated GENESIS range is 1–100 m³/h by configuration. That figure is not automatically plant flow or transfer performance. In a sidestream, recirculated fraction, contact time and mixing with the main flow matter.

  • Average/maximum plant flow and available generator-loop flow.
  • Proposed gas, source, purity, flow, pressure and compatibility risks.
  • Water inlet/outlet pressure and return-point backpressure.

Check the water and every utility

Abrasive solids, particle size, viscosity, oil, pH, salinity and temperature may dictate upstream protection and materials. Gas supply needs regulation, metering and interlocks defined for the model. Ozone requires whole-system design for contact, off-gas, ventilation and safety.

No motor in the generation core does not mean zero energy. Count pumps, gas production or compression, controls and, where applicable, off-gas treatment.

Validate before promising performance

Define acceptance against the process: outlet quality and chemicals in DAF, DO/energy/effluent in biological treatment, or ozone utilisation and residual gas where relevant. Compare with a baseline and meter auxiliaries. The supplier must provide model-approved limits and sequences; a conceptual diagram is not an operation manual.

For early sizing, prepare two drawings: the normal process path and the proposed sidestream or inline arrangement. Mark isolation and bypass, water and gas meters, pressure points and sampling ports. This lets the supplier identify missing utilities before promising a model or performance level.

Common questions

Can a 10 m³/h unit only serve a 10 m³/h plant?

Not necessarily. A sidestream can treat and return a fraction; the outcome depends on recirculation, mixing and measured objective.
